About the Club

 ( Cloth of Gold Shield)
The club has been in existence since 1976 when some members of a target club based in East London, decided to concentrate on field archery. After a great deal of searching they finally found a sympathetic council to rent them a piece of woodland and the club has been at Forty Hall Wood, Enfield ever since. The rent for the wood allows shooting on weekends and Bank Holidays only.
We put on at least one competition (open shoot) a year for visiting archers and hold our own club championships, for which medals and trophies are presented. There are also other fun shoots during the year including a Wassail shoot at Christmas or on the first Sunday in the New Year. Some of the members particulary enjoy the competitive side, and attend open shoots put on by other clubs around the country.

These shoots are advertised in the National Field Archery Society (NFAS) Newsletter. The NFAS is the national body that oversees Field Archery and a link to their website and other sites of interest can be found on the links page, Over the years the club has achieved considerable success in other clubs open shoots, and at
the National Championships, winning many individual awards and team trophies.
