Dave started shooting Target Archery with the Abbey Bowmen of St Albans in 1997. First trained with a Recurve but has shot both A F B and Longbow, at present he is down the woods practicing with a Mongolian Flat Bow (Traditional). As a Target Archer he is a GNAS coach and has won several Longbow trophies with his Target Archery Club. He joined the Cloth of Gold in 2003 because the chance of trying another branch of archery namely Field Archery appealed to him. He shoots indoor target Archery in the winter and outdoors Field during the summer. One of Dave’s other interests is the Scouts, he has been a Scout Leader for thirty years and combines his Archery skills with his Scouting by teaching Archery to the Scouts. As Field Archery is in sense simulated hunting this allows this sport to combine with bush craft skills which is another long term interest Dave likes to pursue. As the two pursuits compliment each other he considers he has the best of both worlds. Dave has attended both Field and Target Shoots and has won medals and trophies
at both. He attends the Club whenever he can. If when he is there work needs to
be done he is always willing to lend a hand. |
