Nev Wilson

Nev first took up shooting in 1965 in the north of England. He was trained by Alf Johnson qualified GNAS & BFAA coach to a high standard. His Field Club was the Teucer Bowmen. Moved to Stevenage in 1970, and did not take up the bow again until 1992 where he rediscovered Bare Bow style at Bossard Bowmen.

Nev first joined the Cloth of Gold in 1996, after a year Dave Arnold the then currant Captain of Archers left. He took over this role for a year, then Andy Stroud took on the role, then it was back to him again. In 1998 he won the Victor Ladorum Trophy at the Devon Challenge in the men’s Bare Bow section He has won a Club Master Hunter Patch in the Bare Bow class twice in 1997 and 2003. In 1999 Nev took his Coaching course and passed successfully and was N. F .A .S. Coach until 2004, renewing in 2004 for a further 5 years. At this point the Captain of Archers was disbanded. During that time he was responsible for booking in archers attending Open Shoots, Shoot organisation and Shoot safety.

Nev won the UK’s 1st R 100 Bare Bow section in 2005. He has helped on numerous occasions with Course setting. Just recently Nev has tried his hand at Hunting Tackle with disastrous results. His period of Coaching has produced some of his proudest moments; the progress some of his pupils have made is very satisfying. One in particular stands out above all the rest Ethna Gillespie whose achievements have outstripped all expectations. His new job is writing the Shoot Reports and compiling Members Profiles for the Web Site and Newsletter.
