Rose Goss

Rose first tried archery at a Have a Go on holiday in Dorset, and thought it was fascinating and there was a lot to learn.   Well, yes!  For twenty years she has persevered and slowly but surely it is paying off. During that time the target side of things went up and then down, and she won one indoor and one outdoor competition.   Then last year at Holmbush added a field shoot to the set.

In Field archery Rose used to shoot AFB, starting at Bossard Bowmen in their very mixed woodland. This was not the place for the faint hearted to start their Field Archery experience. She also has happy memories of White Mark at Shirburn Castle with the moat round it, unfortunately closed to archery now, and travelling to Frankley in the Midlands and scrambling up and down a hill fort covered with very wet and slippery bluebells.  Difficult conditions to gain a foothold in which to shoot.

A couple of years ago she got a longbow and the AFB hasn't seen the light of day since.   It is only 28 lbs but shoots very well, and she uses it indoors in the winter as well as outdoors for field.   Since Bob and Rose joined Cloth of Gold they have travelled around to open shoots more than they used to.   Last year amongst others they went to Druids in the west and Holmbush in the south, the camping is always good on these weekends and there are lots of characters to meet.

Rose and Bob joined Cloth of Gold in 2002 and have attended Open and Club shoots whenever possible.

At the 2006 AGM Rose was elected Club Secretary and the Club wishes her luck in a very vital and important period in the Clubs history. Without a Secretary the Club would not have been able to continue.
