Steve Gibbons

Steve joined as a young boy 8 years of age in 1979. When his Dad Mo brought him down to the Cloth of Gold with his Mum Vera who was a volunteer, she used to help with the Charity Shoots that the Club put on annually in those days. Steve at the moment shoots Hunting Tackle, but like his dad has tried his hand at most styles in field archery. Steve has over the years grown up with this Club and has been a Course Officer on quite a few occasions both in conjunction with other members and on his own. In the late 1990’s he was awarded the odd arrow for his contribution in that year.

He is always available and readily on hand when there was work to be done like carrying out 3Ds, taking out groups of visitors at both open shoots and when beginners are required to be escorted around the woods, helping with general tasks and on open shoot days in conjunction with his Dad organises the car parking. In the old days he would be first with making up his target boss which every member would have to do as a condition of their membership.

I do believe this is the only club that Steve has been a member of. He was trained at Cloth of Gold and has spent his entire Archery career representing the Club. He has represented the Club at local Open Shoots and the National Champs on quite a few occasions. He will be in the forefront to represent the club in the forthcoming H N A Triple Challenge. Steve is a dedicated and reliable member of Cloth of Gold and we are sure he will continue to be so for many years to come.
