Archery Long Bow
Is my Long Bow good (pictures and details included)?
Hi there, i have bought a bow off Ebay, it hasn't arrived yet the seller says it is really good and its quality, can i have your professional opinion on the bow i.e. is the quality of the wood good?, the craftsmanship good?, was it worth the £51 i payed for it? and what you think of it personally . Also i am a real beginner at archery could u give an estimate of the velocity of the bow (feet per second) and what arrows should i get for it thanks!.

This bow will be used safely and for the sport of archery, thinking of target shooting
first of all you should have gone to your local gun smith or air rifle dealer who would have been more helpful than anyone on here (sorry guys but this a very specialised field) the only true way to to assess the power of a longbow is that if it is easy to string then it is not powerful enough maybe you should have gone for a decent bow with draw weights that do not take much pulling power,a true english longbow was made from a single piece of yew taken from the center of the tree but containing 2 different types of wood one from the dead center which was soft and the other from next to the center which was has hard this gave the bow its flexability.but even so you may have got yourself a bargain,one more tip find a local archery club ,no matter where you ars there's bound to be one close to you
