Bert is a founder member and ex- Chairman of the Cloth of Gold.

Bert first joined the club in 1976 when it was first formed.  In its first stages the small group met in a pub, then members' houses.  The next stage was finding somewhere to shoot.  As wooden arrows and anchoring at the side of the mouth was not conducive with target archery they found the very woods we shoot in today. 

Bert’s style of shooting is Hunting Tackle.  Bert has won Club H.T. Championship and the Odd Arrow on more than one occasion for his commitment to the success of Cloth of Gold.

When Bert was a young man 30 years ago he was instrumental in organising mini buses to take members of the Club to the National Champs, where they had lots of fun staying in the same B&B’s.  He has been around that long he is now part of the furniture. He attends the club every week, hail or shine, even when there is no one shooting, to feed his beloved animals. He keeps the place tidy and at all open shoots sets up camp for the visitors.
