Compound Bow Aiming Question?
Just got my first bow today. I have a three pin sight, peep, and kisser to line up my shot. I have noticed that when leaving both eyes open (as I've heard you're supposed to) I can't see the peep and only focus on the pins. I'm not at the range now so I can't shoot to see, but is this how you do it? Avoiding the peep altogether?
All depend on if you have the same eye dominance. What I mean is if you are right handed most people have the right eye the dominant eye. Smae for lefties. BUT, in some situations a person can be left eye dominant and still does everything else right handed.
A WAY TO TELL: Stand a pencil or somthing up in front of you and line it up to a mark or somthing on the wall...like your about to use it as a front site post on a rifle. Use your eye that you narmally aim with and the other closed. Now open both eyes. Did it move from the mark? Now close the shooting eye...Did it move from the mark or close to the mark?
BOTTOM LINE is that what you explained sounds like you have an eye dominance problem...so you may not be able to shoot with both eyes open...if you have the other eye taking over.
My brother has that problem, so he may buy a left handed bow. I shoot with both eyes open, but that is because I can.
NOW, don't listen to all the hype everyone tells you. Try out shooting with your non-aiming eye closed and see how you do. I know that some guys on my league shoot one eyed and they do fine.
