Crossbow Sling
During the ancient times, which was more important for the military?
Things like slings, bows, longbows, composite bows, crossbows, and etc.
vs.
siege weapons.
I think that seige weapons ( trebuchet, ballistae) became definitely better than the smaller weapons when canons were included into the category of siege weapons. The smaller weapons, which now includes guns, became less important.
However, during the ancient time, this is still unclear. Which one do you think is better? Do you have any sources? Thanks. I have to write about ancient weapons.
I know that both are critical for the survival of the military. However, one has to be more critical than the other.
I'd say that because technology wasn't as sharp then, they relied more on warm bodies. That being the case, personal weapons reigned supreme. things like trebuchets and such were ... siege weapons- absolutely necessary for taking land, castles, strategic locations- but not nearly as devastating as personal weapons.
