Grizzly Recurve Bow
How rugged is the Fred Bear Grizzly recurve bow?
could i use it as a walking stick as i walked across a creek, say one foot deep? it would be full of rocks. And when i got to the other side, could i just toss it in the bushes. does it stand heat very well? what about the cold. submerged in water? tossed in some mud?
Can you really be serious? Why would you take a good piece of equipment and treat it like some kind of trash (or worse)? Why would you spend good money on reputable products and then use them for something entirely different than what they were ever intended to be used for? That makes about as much sense as buying a Cadillac convertible and hitching it up to a team of mules and using it for a hay wagon. Your complete lack of experience shows. If you really need a walking stick for one foot of water, pick one up along the trail or cut one down along the shore. "Toss it in the bushes?" Sure....along with your cell phone, wrist watch, and GPS...right? You can always pick them up again later. "Does it stand heat very well?" Heck yes! I guess that means you plan on stirring the campfire with it and using it to toast marshmallows and hot dogs, right? And "...cold, submerged water and mud???" Tell me you aren't going to use it as a fish spear right away too. I have a hard time believing you are really serious about any of these questions, and if you are, I have NO clue where it is that you intend to go with them. But one thing I am fairly certain of: you may actually get lucky and find your way there, but it ain't likely you'll be lucky enough to find your way back. And when you need help the most, don't count on it coming from your Fred Bear Grizzly recurve bow. You broke that up and wore it out LONG before you ever got to use it for what it was designed for. Bummer! Should have bought an iron rod instead. It would have done everything you REALLY wanted it to and more. You could have used it for a lightening rod. Sorry, but Fred's bow wouldn't be much good for that.
