Norman Bird

Norman is married and has a son called Dean. He joined Cloth of Gold in 1997, his style of shooting is Longbow, it has been known for him to shoot A F B but his real skill is the Longbow. His recent successes in A.F. B were the Ron Pavitt Trophy at the Co. of. 60. and 5th in the National Champs 2005.Norman is a very good Longbow archer as was Dean who won the Junior National Longbow Championship in 2000.

Norman
has also been a winner in 1976 of the National Championships Longbow class. He has won lots of trophies and medals at open shoots and he has been the club Longbow Champion on numerous occasions. Also he has won the Club Master Hunter Patch longbow class several times. Although Norman has not had much formal training, he started shooting in the 1970’s he is mainly self taught but a very good instinctive archer indeed.

He loves to make his own arrows and has also made arrows for other people who have had some success with them. He works hard for the club, and is always on hand when work needs to be done. Norman was a major contributor to the erection of our shelter in the woods. He has also been a course officer in partnership with Bryan Piper. Whenever Norman takes on a task you can guarantee that the work will be first class. He is a valid and reliable member
