Target Bow Arrows
What store can you buy bow and arrows from for a cheap price?
I'm looking into doing archery and going into competitions and what not so does anybody know where i can buy a good bow and arrows from... also what type do recommend for competitions???? recurve, longbow, etc??
PS oh and just to compile all my questions into one: is it legal to shoot targets in your backyard in California?
Depends on what type of competition you're going for. Are you going for FITA, field/3D, SCA competitions, traditional, barebow? Is the Olympics your end goal? For FITA, I'd go for recurve. But we're really going at this the backwards. First you need to know what you like to shoot, then you decide on which competition to go for. See, me personally, I like a challenge, but I also like gadgets, so I go for Olympic style recurve. Some people want to keep it simple, and they go for a longbow.
As far as legality, that depends on the municipality. Here in LA and the OC area, I know it's illegal to do it in the backyard, but people do it anyway. Justin Huish, the 96 gold medalist used to shoot at a target in his garage from his neighbor's driveway across the street. Friend of mine, otoh, almost got a ticket for shooting in his backyard. Another very unlucky fellow in the OC almost got arrested, well he not only shot in his backyard, but he managed to miss the target and the arrow somehow manage to hit the leg of a CHP officer writing a ticket by the freeway a good 500 yards away down the hill.
